Started by: admin (1645)

Just heard that in the next few months both of these churches will close. St Davids in Haigh and I presume St Johns in New Springs?

Ron, isn’t it sad when you see other countries churches all over the world being used, my church St Joseph’s Wallgate is still standing even though it’s been empty for years now. There wasnt the population to use it an more…it will a sad day for me when it eventually has to go.

Same as the shops. Use them or lose them.
Ironically, those who don't use them are the first to complain when they shut!

There's going to be a few hundred appartments built in Wigan centre quite soon. And you know who'll end up living in them?
It follows that .......... "they're gonna need a bigger mosque"!

Britain is a Christian country. British Law is Christian Law. But, they don't like it so, it'll not be long before they try to change that!. In fact, I think they've tried already

I've read from different reports that it costs around a million pounds a year to maintain the churches around the borough.
With falling attendances it's inevitable that something will have to give, after all the C of E hasn't much money.

:The fund was valued at £10.1 billion as at the end of 2021.11 May 2022

"a million pounds a year to maintain the churches around the borough."

Churches are nothing to do with the council. Why, would anybody assess the cost of churches in an individual council's area?

I know the churches have nothing to do with the clowncil, the million pounds is coming from church funds.
The C of E has only got 10.1 billion in their piggy bank, so they'll be struggling don't you think.

The Catholic churches are funded by the Vatican, A Mafia based company from Italy and if they don't like a church, They have it made into a supermarket and the ones they do like,
They get an offer they cant refuse,
